01 Why does ITF-14 have thick black borders (Bearer Bars)?
Bearer Bars protect the barcode from damage and ensure that the scanning beam reads the entire width of the barcode. They also prevent 'short scans' which can occur on corrugated materials.
02 Can ITF-14 be used for retail checkout?
No. ITF-14 is exclusively for outer cases, master cartons, and pallets. For individual retail products, use EAN-13 or UPC-A.
